Remember, you’re not stuck at home, you’re safe at home… but that doesn’t mean you’re not getting a little stir crazy! Now more than ever it’s important to take care of yourself. Here are four incredibly easy ways to practice self care to love on your mind, body and spirit.
1. Meditation
Meditation is one of the easiest ways to refresh your mind, but in times like this of course it’s hard to settle your mind when there are a million things to think about. That’s when turning to guided meditation is best! Meditation does not have to be an hour long saying “om” the entire time, it can be a simple, five to ten minute exercise guided by a little, calming voice in your smart phone. HeadSpace is an awesome app that is filled with guided exercises and adorable characters all to help you practice mindfulness.
2. Facial
You don’t have to spend $100 at a spa to experience this luxurious and easy self care practice. A facial can simply be done by adding some extra love to your skincare routine. Here’s a step by step for pampering at home:
- Wash your face with your favorite cleanser.
- Steam your face over a bowl of warm water with a towel over your head.
- Proceed to put on your toner as usual.
- Apply your face mask of choice! Sheet masks are easy and super affordable.
- Add on a simple lip scrub made of sugar and honey if you’re feeling spicy.
- Finish with moisturizer and voilà, you’re done!
3. Exercise
The gym being closed getting you down? Working up a sweat right from your living room can make your mind and your body feel better! With so many work out videos on YouTube, it’s hard to settle on which one to do… so how about you start with blogilates? Cassey Ho has been making pilates workout videos on YouTube for over a decade, so she knows what she’s doing! She’s insanely motivational in each and every one of her videos so get your sweat on while being cheered on!
4. Podcasts
Being at home for days on end can start to take a toll on your mental health. Loneliness starts to creep in pretty quick, especially if you’re living on your own. Podcasts are a fantastic way to keep you company as you go about your day. Phone a Friend is a weekly podcast from pals Ollie MN and George Ezra (yes, that George Ezra!) where they chat on the phone, being there for each other on their mental health journeys. Filled with daily life stories that are all to relatable, banter that makes you laugh out loud so loud and touching on very important mental health topics, it’s exactly what your mind would want for self care podcast.
