Weezer dropped their new album OK Human today, exactly one week after we heard the lead track “All My Favorite Songs.” With only a two weeks notice, the band surprised fans with the album announcement on January 18.
The surprise album follows their 2019 self-titled LP. This is Weezer’s 14th studio album. And OK Human isn’t the only project they’re dropping in 2021. Fans can still expect Van Weezer to hit streaming platforms on May 7.
The band tweeted about the creation of OK Human and the inspiration behind using instruments that connected them to the past.
OK Human was made at a time when humans-playing-instruments was a thing of the past. All we could do is look back on ancient times when humans really mattered and when the dark tech-takeover fantasy didn’t exist.

“During the summer of COVID-19 we grabbed our masks, hit the studio & began to chip away at what is now known as OK Human. An album that was made by a handful of humans using only analog technologies (including a 38 piece orchestra) for all of you humans to consume.” No loops, hi-tech sounds, or even electric guitar were used for the group’s surprise album.
