After a six-week delay, no thanks to COVID-19…we finally had a Grammys ceremony and it did not disappoint! This year’s awards ceremony including some big wins for big-time artists, bands and producers that were all very well deserved.
Austin duo Black Pumas were nominated for three different awards and performed their breakout song “Colors” which was nominated for Best American Roots Performance. Billie Eilish and her brother/producer FINNEAS won the Record of the Year award. Billie is no rookie when it comes to Grammy winning, she added two more trophies to her previous five. She won in the categories of Record of the Year for “Everything I Wanted” and Song Written for Visual Media, “No Time to Die.”
Taylor Swift won the Album of the Year award for her eighth studio album, Folklore. Singer/songwriter Dua Lipa took home her third Grammy for the Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia. And heartthrob Harry Styles won the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Watermelon Sugar.”
The Grammys wouldn’t be the same without show stopping performances like the one Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion gave for their song “WAP.” Doja Cat ruled the stage with a futuristic performance of her hit song “Say So.” And singer/rapper Post Malone took to the stage in an all-black leather outfit to perform his song “Hollywood’s Bleeding.”
