Former star of The Bachelor, Colton Underwood, came out as gay in a recent interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.
Underwood appeared as a contestant on The Bachelorette in 2018 for its 14th season. In 2019, Underwood starred as the lead on The Bachelor. “I’m gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it,” said Underwood in the emotional interview. After his announcement, the former Bachelor of season 23 admitted that “it’s been a journey” to get where he is today.
“I’ve ran from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time.” The reality and football star said letting people know the real him was the next step he wanted to take. “I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life, and that means the world to me.” Underwood touched on how his faith was impacted after coming out saying, “I used to pray for Him to change me and… [now] I can actually have faith and go into church and be present and not have it be conditional on this.”

Since the news broke, an interview with Billie Eichner from 2019 resurfaced. The clip shows Eichner joking with Underwood that he would be the first gay Bachelor.
Underwood asks Eichner what he looks for in a partner and he replies, “The first thing I do, I’m gay. I know that’s a shock Colton, that I think you should look into. Maybe you’re the first gay Bachelor and we don’t even know.” Watch the clip below.
