You’ll soon be able to purchase David Bowie’s single “Alabama Song” on a 7″ picture disc in a 40th anniversary edition.
“Alabama Song” originates from a poem written by poet Bertolt Brecht and was composed for the play The Little Mahoganny in 1927. Bowie, being a fan of Brecht’s work, added the song to his 1978 tour, Isolar II, and issued the tune as a single in 1980.
The 7″ picture disc will feature a studio version and a live version recorded in July 1978. Additionally, an unreleased performance of “Joe the Lion” recorded during soundcheck of Bowie’s Isolar II tour will be included.
The picture disc goes on sale February 14th via Parlophone and is available for pre-order now.
